What should I do?

I’am 12 wks.and 4 days along in my pregnancy..I been having pain in my upper left wisdom tooth which does have a huge hole in it. My OB sent a fax to the dentist today telling them yes I can have dental procedures done but no general anesthesia..but the dentist said he can numb me still using something…they may need to pull this tooth tomorrow if its not infected…if I go and the dentist says its not infected should I go ahead and get it pulled with being pregnant or not? By the way I do not have to have an xray on it. Thanks for your time everyone. Im just really scared with being pregnant and going there to the dentist. :-(

Usually in the dental profession, they wait until after your first trimester to do any dental work. General anesthetic means they will be putting you to sleep. This is normally done for people that are afraid of what they might experience or people with impacted teeth that need surgery to remove them. That’s what you should avoid while pregnant.
You could (most likely) have local anesthetic (a small shot) of anesthetic like 2% Lidocaine or 3% Mepivicaine and do just fine. It’s just daunting for some to experience an extraction while awake. As long as it’s not complicated, you will do fine.
Good luck!
P.S. Just because you have a hole doesn’t always mean extraction…you might just need a crown or filling. Inquire about that before an extraction.

find out what sort of numbing medicine your dentist is going to use, and then ask your OB about that kind.
if they say it’s fine, then get it out.
if they don’t approve see if it is possible to have the procedure with no numbing medicine or anesthesia because your tooth will only become worse
