Usually in the dental profession, they wait until after your first trimester to do any dental work. General anesthetic means they will be putting you to sleep. This is normally done for people that are afraid of what they might experience or people with impacted teeth that need surgery to remove them. That’s what you should avoid while pregnant.
You could (most likely) have local anesthetic (a small shot) of anesthetic like 2% Lidocaine or 3% Mepivicaine and do just fine. It’s just daunting for some to experience an extraction while awake. As long as it’s not complicated, you will do fine.
Good luck!
P.S. Just because you have a hole doesn’t always mean extraction…you might just need a crown or filling. Inquire about that before an extraction.
