Poetry
Poetry seems to be all the range in our village at the moment. In church on Sunday a selection of pastor poems were read out which went down very well. There was even the suggestion that we might start a poetry group in the village as so many people were enjoying the poems so much and I think that is a wonderful idea and will do my best to make sure that it happens. I think it all started when some of the children gave some teacher appreciation poems to their teachers at school and people got talking about what a nice idea it was. Many of the children started to write their own poems, which was nice and the school had a project where the children were all writing some personalized name poems and then all of the children and their parents were talking about poetry. It is lovely to have a whole village enthusiastic about something like this as it could lead to some of the children taking poetry up as a career or hobby and that would be a good thing. We have some lovely scenery in the area and so they would certainly not be stuck for inspiration if they wanted to write about something less abstract.
