Trail Watching Basics

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

There are some new technologies available to make your wildlife photography even better. There are a number of people who really like to capture some neat photos and view the beauty of nature. Taking pictures of wildlife presents problems though, since a human presence can cause an alarm. If you are really interested, then you should get a trail camera.

You don’t want to just get any trail camera though. You want a good one. A trail camera is basically just a camera built to use a fancy time-delay mechanism. You set it up and turn it on to cover an trail area. It will then take pictures when it detects motion. This should give you some really cool pictures. Make sure that your camera has a digital rangefinder though. This will make your pictures stay in focus even when they are at quite a distance. It is a little more expensive, but you will be happy you bought a good camera to start with.

Finally, you might want to get something to play predator calls. These are a mix of sounds that should draw in a specified animal to the area where you have the camera setup. If you are having trouble drawing an elusive creature to your setup, then this will be a good investment.

Home Theater Speaker Basics

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Speakers are the most essential and important component when it comes to home theaters. If you are planning to get one you can look at the wide options available at Speakercraft. They are the market leaders when it comes to speaker and accessories. Since speakers play a vital role in a home theater’s functionality choosing the correct set of speakers is vital. This will ensure that you get the correct movie experience at home.

Apart from speakers you should also look for the proper cable to connect the speakers which will mostly be placed apart from each other. Monster speaker cable is an excellent option for your cabling need for your home theater.

To enjoy a more digital experience with your home theater one other most important accessory is the Monster HDMI cable. This HDMI or High-Definition Multimedia Interface cable is nothing but a specialized cable which is used to transmit HD digital streams which is uncompressed and of excellent quality.

Some of the basic speakers required for home theater, which you can get from Speakercraft, are front right and left speakers, surround sound speaker, middle channel speaker as well as the subwoofers. Mostly the middle speaker is often omitted or not used but in reality it is an equally important speaker when it comes to home theater and can be interconnected using either the Monster HDMI cable or otherwise the Monster speaker cable.

AT&T to link iPhone to U-verse video, Internet

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

U.S. phone company AT&T Inc plans to eventually link Apple Inc’s iPhone to its high-speed Internet and video service called U-verse, and introduce new features like using the phone as a remote control.

At an event on Monday to showcase some recently developed technologies that are not yet being marketed, AT&T emphasized that in the future, consumers should be able to use their phones, computer and television in more interesting ways.

“We’re looking at the whole landscape, of what people use, and what’s out there in the home,” said AT&T Chief Technology Officer John Donovan, adding that some of the services may be launched by the end of the year.

AT&T is currently the sole U.S. carrier for the iPhone –an advantage over other mobile providers like Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications Inc and Vodafone Group Plc, as well as over cable television providers.

For example, consumers will be able to listen to their voice mails on their screens, and download shows from their digital video recorders onto their iPhones.

They also will be able to use their iPhones to navigate channels like a normal remote control, and for entertainment purposes like virtually hurling tomatoes at the TV screen using iPhone applications.

Cellcom offers free mobile air time for watching ads

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Mobile phone operator Cellcom (CEL.TA) (CEL.N) on Sunday launched a new advertising model in Israel enabling subscribers to accumulate free air time in exchange for watching commercials.

Cellular phone advertising will happen in the end and it will be big,” Cellcom Chief Executive Officer Amos Shapira told a news conference.

Cellcom, Israel’s largest mobile phone operator with 3.1 million subscribers at the end of June, will award customers up to 45 minutes per month of free air time for watching the commercials. At the end, viewers will have to answer one or two advertiser questions to prove they paid attention.

Adi Cohen, Cellcom’s vice president of marketing, said the initiative entitled “Time is Money” was targeted mainly at teenagers, students and others up to age 30.

“It is a way for us to attract young new subscribers,” he said, noting it will allow Cellcom to make its service cheaper to customers without the company having to finance it.

Major advertisers such as Coca-Cola, Nokia and Sony have already signed contracts to advertise on Cellcom, he said.

Advertisers will pay 1.7 shekels per proven view of an ad. Cellcom expects advertising turnover to reach 15 million shekels ($4.2 million) in the first year, with about half of that being passed on to subscribers in free air time.

Cohen said the model was similar to one implemented by Virgin Mobile in 2006 in the United States called Sugar Mama.

The advertising market in Israel reached $900 million in 2007, with Internet advertising accounting for $90 million of that, up from $69 million in 2006.

The advantage of advertising on cell phones is that handsets are always with subscribers and it is more personal.

“We can know exactly what clients want and can do more targeting,” Cohen said.

Sony CEO thinking over Ericsson joint venture: report

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Sony’s (6758.T) joint venture with cell phone maker Ericsson (ERICb.ST) must do better, Sony’s chief executive was quoted as saying by a German newspaper on Wednesday.

Asked whether Sony is planning to end its Sony Ericsson joint venture, Howard Stringer told Die Welt: “It’s certainly been a difficult year but buying out a partner is never an easy thing.”

Sony lowered its group net profit forecast for the year to March by 17 percent, citing a slump at Sony Ericsson and weakening prospects for its electronics division amid tough price competition.

“We have to work together again as we did two years ago. Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution,” Stringer said.

He added that it was hard for a company to be as nimble as possible when it works in a joint venture.

“You’re always engaged in discussion and negotiation. We and Ericsson are always discussing ways of making Sony Ericsson as successful as it possibly can be,” he said.

Which is more important : you saving money $ or taking care of our planet and saving threaten speices.?

screw the money$, save the creatures.

—–

you might also ask what political party respondents are
associated with?
maybe which state they live in?
what kind of car they drive?
what they think of the war in Iraq?

i could go further, and ask what are their specific religious beliefs, but
maybe better not.

to be fair, both, but AGW is a real problem.
dem, calif, old, don’t like it. (no, better not:)

——–

I think taking care of the planet is more important, but
I’ve found most of the actions I’ve taken save me money.

I don’t donate money to organizations, I think personal effort is more
important. There are too many organizations that spend more money on payroll
than actual action. I belong to a few organizations that keep me informed on
what politicians are doing so I can write or email them to let them know how I
feel about topics.

The fact is energy costs money, so the less you use the less you pay.
Transportation and packaging often costs more than the item we want to use, so
by sourcing most of my food locally I again save money, I save even more when I
grow it my self. Large conventional farms use lots of equipment and chemicals,
so buying organic food and clothing, I don’t always save money, but I am
helping our environment. I buy what I need and only replace items when needed,
this conserves natural resources and has allowed me to become credit card debt
free. Recycling paper and buying used furniture as well as not buying imported
produce helps save forests. Most of the rain forest destruction is to make room
for farming, much of what is grown is shipped to the US.
I switched to nontoxic cleaners, I no longer use spray cans for anything, I’m
no longer putting chlorine bleach, phosphates or a whole list of other
chemicals into the sewer which ultimately ends up in the ocean. My primary
cleaners are baking soda, natural soap and vinegar, can’t get much cheaper than
that.

Love Your Cell Phone—Accessorize!

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Cell phones have been in the market for almost two decades and there are now approximately 51 million users in the United States alone. The cell phone industry continues to grow each year and the ball game is not entirely for the networks anymore.

There is another form of business industry that sprouted out of the popularity of cell phones. Cell phone accessories are now the latest craze among yuppies and teenagers. A cell phone would never be considered stylish if it does not come with these latest accessories:

· Cell phone covers—are not only there to beautify but also to protect the cell phone from dust and other elements. But most people overlook this basic use and just go for the colors that they want or the style that suits their taste. There are also licensed phone covers that feature famous cartoon or film characters.

· Headset—its primary function is to give convenience to the user by allowing hands-free conversation.

· Noise shield—these are now getting quite popular as more and more people want to shut out the unnecessary noise that normal cell phone conversations bring.

· Hands-free Speakers—these are used in automobiles especially now that law enforcers don’t condone texting or taking calls while driving.

· Memory cards/USBs—these are used to store data. USBs have further use as they can be used to transfer and not only keep data from cell phones or PCs.

These are just some of the latest Cell phone accessories that go with cell phones. Of course, there would be more developments in the future so be up on your toes and watch!
